Do YOU have a suggestion for something Ruddington Parish Council (RPC) could provide for our village?
Every year, RPC’s ‘Amenities Committee’ looks at its budget, and discusses suggestions for things that the Parish could provide for the community – small things such as a new bench, improved noticeboards, or better signage, to bigger ideas such as new play areas, building improvements, or new sports pitches? Over the last couple of years, RPC has funded items ranging from wooden planters for our verges, and our new ‘Village Gateway’ signs, to a ‘Roll of Honour’ lectern and an especially commissioned ‘Armistace Centenary’ bench at our War Memorial.
This year, RPC discussions began last month (see the draft minutes >>HERE<<) but next Wednesday’s meeting (28th November – see the agenda >>HERE<<) is the next opportunity to put ideas forward before the 2019/20 budget gets drawn up. Public suggestions are always welcome at meetings when it’s on the agenda, but this year Councillor Mark Pinks would like to try something different by asking you for ideas via Ruddington social media, too!
Suggestions could be small (perhaps funded by cost savings elsewhere, or with income from facilities hire) or much bigger (maybe even requiring budget planning over a number of years). But remember that some things may not be within the remit of the Parish Council – for example, highway matters (roads, footways, potholes, street lighting, verge maintenance etc.) are the responsibility of Nottinghamshire County Council, whereas Rushcliffe Borough Council deal with things like waste disposal, recycling, street sweeping and litter bins.
How about some new play equipment for one of our parks, a 4G pitch for one of our sports fields, or maybe even setting some money aside for an important upcoming national event?
If you would like to make a suggestion, please leave a comment on the @Ruddington Facebook page >>HERE<< or as a @RUDDINGTON_info Twitter reply >>HERE<<, including:
(1) a description of the suggestion,
(2) a rough cost, and
(3) a potential supplier, if appropriate.
Your ideas via our social media channels will be welcomed until Monday 26th November at 9pm. This will then allow time to gather them up – ready for discussion at Wednesday’s meeting.
Thank you!
